Relief International is a humanitarian alliance that delivers health and nutrition, education, economic, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services to vulnerable communities in the world's most fragile settings, working in partnership with local actors. The alliance is composed of three legal entities - Relief International, Inc., Relief International-France and Relief International-Europe - which operate as a single team with a common purpose.
The organisation works in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, among them Sudan, Afghanistan, Gaza and Myanmar, often in complex and challenging contexts where it may be the only organisation providing assistance. Its workforce comprises approximately 7,000 staff and local volunteers, 97% of whom are local nationals.
Its programming covers humanitarian relief and longer-term development: health and nutrition, education, economic and WASH services, supported by climate-smart and conflict-sensitive approaches, evidence-based methods, and local capacity building. The stated objectives are saving lives and building long-term resilience, with an emphasis on inclusive and safe programming, partnership and local empowerment.
